My name is Daniel and I am currently a first-year MLIS student at Valdosta State University. My interests, broadly, include technology and languages. In particular I'm interested in the Digital Humanities, the point where those two things can cross over. The projects that I'm hosting here should display that interest.
I have previous graduate work in theology and a bachelor's with a double major in Latin and German Studies. I'm fairly well steeped in the humanities, with my background being largely a pure humanities one. My work was mostly with languages and, in addition to Latin and German, I've worked with Classical and Koine Greek and have some experience with Classical Hebrew. I'd like to eventually add a few more languages but my focus at present is on developing technology skills.
My formal experience with programming is minimal, but I'm using these projects to explore and make up for that. At this point I've been able to work with Python, PHP, and MySQL databases to a limited extent. I hope to expand farther and develop a more varied skill-set. Essentially, I view Digital Humanities as a way to bridge two (traditionally) very separate worlds, and I want to be able to help build that bridge.
